Pre-Workout Steps That Increase Your Performance

by Luis Williams

If you are getting started on working out regularly, you may wonder if there are additional steps you can take to maximize the performance-level you achieve. Working out with supplemental steps can be more beneficial than merely carrying out an exercise or weight-lifting routine. Here are some steps you can take before you start your exercising regimen to ensure you achieve the best possible results in muscle growth.

Don't Exercise On An Empty Stomach

Most people wishing to attain sculpted muscles know the importance of eating properly.  Many weightlifters eat foods high in carbohydrates and proteins after their workout to retain muscle mass more effectively. What many fail to realize is the food eaten before a workout has just as much of a bearing on the muscle amount being built.

Failing to eat at all before working out can deplete your stored glycogen. The next in line to use energy is the very thing you are trying to increase, your muscles. Make it a habit to have a light snack before undertaking your exercise routine. A moderate to digest carbohydrate like brown rice, oatmeal, or whole wheat pasta will give you the needed energy to push yourself to the limit when lifting or exercising.

Take A Pre-Workout Supplement

There are many pre-workout supplements on the market, like hyde. Selecting one that has a rapid absorption rate into the bloodstream is best as you will feel the energy you need to get through your routine to the best of your ability. Arginine-based supplements are a popular choice as they give the user an effective increase in energy felt, leading them to pump the muscles effectively. Pumping the muscles with full range of motion with a powerful impact will send oxygen and amino acids to the muscle area so new muscle growth is a result. Another choice in supplementation is one with caffeine, which boosts energy and increases focus when lifting.

Add Some Protein To The Mix

About a half an hour before you start your routine, consume about ten grams of protein. This will maximize muscle growth. Do the same about a half an hour after your workout. Protein can be obtained in the form of a shake or may be included in your pre-workout supplement.

Prepare The Workout Area

Before storing your exercising session, make sure the area is well ventilated so you get an appropriate amount of oxygen as you increase your heart rate. If you are working out at home, open a window or two and set up a fan in the room to help circulate air in your direction. Keep water in stock in an easy to reach location so you can keep yourself hydrated during your routine. Having a towel on hand to wipe your brow if needed is also helpful.
